Behind the Camera

Hello! I’m Heather. I am an adventurer, a traveler, and a creative soul who calls Northern Colorado home.

The name Holland Project comes from fond memories of visiting my grandparents in beautiful Holland, Michigan. Just as those memories conjure up feelings of love, joy, and playfulness, my hope is that I can help you create special memories of this moment in time for you.

Photography has tugged at my heart since I was in high school when I got to work in the dark room as the yearbook editor and has grown into a slightly obsessive passion since then.

My favorite places to explore these days are the Colorado mountains, the Grand Tetons, and the Pacific Northwest. While I am not a morning person, I love the unexpected moments of pushing myself to rise early and catch that first golden light of a sunrise.

I have had the joy of teaching photography and continue to learn about my own creativity when I am immersed in nature.

My work comes out of making deeper connections through curiosity about the world and people. I believe in the power of laughter and deep reflection, and my work aims to draw that out in my subjects. My eye is naturally drawn to the beauty of clouds, light, and dramatic skies, and I strive to incorporate those natural elements into my work.

I’m a proud mom of three.

My two previous foster dogs, Blondie and Buttercup.

I love to travel. Scotland, Costa Rica, and Spain are some of my favorite places.

I am also a nature and wildlife photographer.

Young Women in Leadership

I ran a program for high school girls for five years. We served hundreds of girls by helping them to feel empowered and confident and connected with inspiring women from around the world. I still continue to look for way to connect young people with their communities.

I volunteer my time for important causes. One of my favorite ways to support the community is photographing rescue dogs to help them get adopted faster.
